Santa Ana Volcano Hike

Volcan Santa Ana is the highest in El Salvador. Its an active volcano with a 3 kilometer crater. The highest point of the volcano is at 2381 mts above sea level.

The Santa Ana Volcano Hike is probably the most popular hike in El Salvador. On a clear day, you can see aproximately a third of the whole country. The hike starts in the evergreen forest, and then on volcanic material from the last 2005 eruption. It usually takes 3:30 to hike up and down. The difficulty is intermediate. There is a sulphuric lagoon in the crater of the volcano, you cant swim in it. But you can swim in Lake Coatepeque, which is in front of the Santa Ana Volcano
