Izalco Volcano Hike

Izalco Volcano is an active volcano and its the youngest in El Salvador, born in 1770, its last eruption was in 1968

Izalco Volcano Hike is only about 8kms roundtrip, but the steepness is almost in a 45 degree angle all the time. Also, the fact that you start and finish at Cerro Verde National Park means youre technically hiking 2 volcanoes up and down. The Hike usually takes about 4:30 hours. The uniqueness of this hike is that you can walk inside the crater of an active volcano. Izalco Volcano Hike starts and finishes from Cerro Verde National Park, located on top of Cerro Verde Inactive Volcano.
